Definition
The Minimal Neonatal Dataset collects a standardized, anonymous set of data from every child born at a participating hospital or transferred to a participating hospital from another hospital without intermediate discharge home. To qualify, the infant needs to meet the following inclusion criteria:
-
liveborn
-
birth weight between 400 and 1499 g and/or
-
gestational age between 23 0/7 and 31 6/7 weeks
The data is submitted to the Network either by paper form or electronically and is used to provide comprehensive, confidential reports to participating hospitals. These reports serve as the foundation for local quality improvement projects, internal audit and use in outcomes research.
