The Fred Bamatter Award was created 30 years ago

The Fred Bamatter Award will be given at the Annual Meeting 2013 of the Swiss Society of Pediatrics (CHF 20'000.00 in the jubilee year) The aim is to reward clinical and basic research in perinatology.

The perinatal period should be taken in the widest sense of the word, including the prenatal perid (embryo and fetus), birth, as well as postnatal and follow-up periods.

Prof. Fred Bamatter (1899-1988) was an outstanding clinician, teacher and researcher. During his lectures, he always tried to link clinical practice to scientific knowledge. Thus, priority will be given to researchers who attempt to make the same link.

Candidates, either Swiss citizens or foreigners living in Switzerland, should submit their applications (CV, list of publications, letter of motivation) to the President of the Bamatter Foundation. Deadline: December 31, 2012.

Prof. Dr. med. J.-L. Micheli
