SLHP supports mother and child health care in Laos, trying to contribute to the reduction in both, mother and child mortality around birth and beyond.
The project was founded in the year 2000 by a small group of Swiss physicians, midwives and nurses volunteering their time and sharing their experience in Laos. The members of this group work in several neonatal, obstetric and internal medicine departments of this South East Asian country. The main focus is to teach Laotian colleagues in local hospitals, to organize work-shops as well as bedside teaching sessions and exchange programs, and to improve medical facilities and equipment, thereby supporting the poorest of the poor.
